Club History
The first Cycling Club in Lancaster was the ‘Vale of Lune Bicycle Club’ founded in 1879 but disbanded in 1882. After a few years the first ‘Lancaster Cycling Club’ was formed in 1887. The Captain of this club for all bar the first few months of its existence until it was also disbanded was Mr. Sam Dawson and he wrote an excellent evocative book entitled ‘Incidents in the Course of a Long Cycling Career’
