Club news

Don't forget, tomorrow (Sunday 7th June) is our club-run sportive, Le Terrier. The weather forecast is close to perfect - dry, sunny & cool but not too windy; the Forest of Bowland countryside is looking its stunning best - fresh green everywhere; and it's an event run by LCC members in support of two important local charities. So if you're thinking of riding, please do! There are 3 route options - 45, 71 & 104 miles. You can sign-on in the morning:

Registration: 07:00 - 08:00 for the Long and Medium routes; 07:30 - 08:30 for the Short route

Start Time: 07:30 - 08.30 for the Long and Medium routes; 08:00 - 09:00 for the Short route

Ample parking and event headquarters at The University of Cumbria, Bowerham Road, Lancaster, LA1 3JD.

For all the details, including routes, go to Le Terrier's webpages.

Then at our evening time trials at Salt Ayre next Thursday (11th June) we will be having our mid-summer prize-givings for the fastest & best-gauged rides so far this year. This should be a lovely social occasion, and (thanks chiefly to Tom & Carmen) we're having a BBQ with burgers, but we need everyone who's coming to contribute; so please bring along something to share - salad, puddings, cakes or something else. Fingers' crossed tomorrow's fine weather will continue, and hope to see you there!

Circuit of Ingleborough 2015

Circuit of Ingleborough course

Three LCC members rode Pendle Forest Cycling Club's annual Circuit of Ingleborough Time Trial at the weekend. An easterly wind made the first 10 miles over Cold Cotes and Buck Haw Brow into Settle tough, but thereafter the going got easier, a side wind accompanying the riders up Ribblesdale, and then a good tailwind easing the final run from Ribblehead Viaduct down into Ingleton. The favourable conditions saw Gethin Butler's long-standing course record broken by former national hillclimb champion Tejvan Pettinger (Sri Chinmoy CT), who recorded a remarkable 1 hour and 52 seconds over the tough and hilly 27 miles. A nice account of the event by Tejvan, which includes the full results, can be found on his blog, here.

Club website - let's make it better!

Written by

At the Club's Annual General Meeting last week, we discussed getting a bit more life into this website, so it better reflects just how much cycling we collectively do, as well as how much cycling we as a Club help make happen - organising sportives, races, club rides, touring trips, and all the rest.

So hopefully there'll soon be lots of exciting Club news, and other stuff relevant to cycling in and around Lancaster, coming your way.

But if you're a Lancaster Cycling Club member this is YOUR website - and what's here should reflect your ideas, interests and exploits. So if you've got suggestions of stuff to put up, or better still, want to contribute news &/or photos, please just drop an email to Dave Horton, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Is there anything you think your Clubmates ought to know about? Any ideas you'd like to share? Have you done anything interesting (to do with cycling!) recently? Got any great photos? All contributions welcome!
